Stephanie Arjona

Stephanie Arjona, the Founder and Executive Director of Signs of Harmony, has dedicated her career to empowering parents and fostering meaningful family connections. Her journey began as a Special Education Teacher in New York City, where she worked with deaf and hard-of-hearing children. This experience highlighted the unique ways children express themselves and the importance of tailored communication methods.

After earning her M.S. in Childhood Education from Hunter College, Stephanie incorporated American Sign Language into her teaching, observing its positive impact on communication and cognitive development. Recognizing the potential benefits for younger children, she launched Signs of Harmony upon relocating to Los Angeles. The organization offers integrative baby and child signing classes that promote family bonding and build confidence in young learners.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Stephanie expanded her services to include Doula Services and Childbirth Education Classes. She developed a comprehensive curriculum to prepare parents and caregivers for the challenges of welcoming new life.

Stephanie's qualifications include certification as a Birth Doula from DONA International, training in Perinatal Mental Health from Postpartum Support International (PSI), and certifications in Childbirth Education, Spinning Babies techniques®, and Lactation Counseling. She is pursuing a career as a midwife, focusing on addressing disparities in maternal health care.

Throughout her career, Stephanie has been a Community-Based Doula and PSI coordinator, volunteering to advocate for families in underserved communities. Her work with Signs of Harmony reflects her belief that all families deserve to experience the fullness and joy of loving relationships.

Stephanie is now serving South Bay Los Angeles and Orange County.
